2015 MCC Annapolis eventFall has arrived and so, too, have the Federal and State employee charity campaigns. These campaigns allow federal and state employees to donate to their favorite charities and are an important source of revenue for the Children’s AIDS Fund International (CAFI). This year CAFI’S ongoing involvement in these critical campaigns began on September 21, 2015 with our participation in the 2015 Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC) Kickoff Events for State Employees and Retirees in Annapolis and the city of Baltimore on September 29, 2015.

These campaigns allow federal and state employees to donate to their favorite charities and are an important source of revenue to help limit the suffering of HIV impacted children and their families.

Maryland is only one of 15 state campaigns in which CAFI participates and these events provide an excellent opportunity for CAFI to meet donors and increase awareness of CAFI programs.
Maryland Secretary of State John C. Wobensmith, the campaign administrator thanked past participants for their support and generosity. He stressed the need to work together to achieve this year’s campaign fundraising goal of $3.3 million. Secretary Wobensmith along with featured speakers Vice Chair, George Owings III, Maryland State Department of Veteran’s Affairs and Assistant Vice Chair, Sam Malhotra, Maryland State Department of Human Resources who each highlighted unique and creative ideas state agencies are using to increase employee awareness and participation. They emphasized that with just a small increase in the number of state employees participating in the MCC the benefits to the Maryland community would be amazing and this year’s goal easily achievable.
