Understanding and Supporting Family Approaches to Sustainability

A diagnosis of HIV impacts an entire family, infected and affected alike. The best possible health outcomes for all are accomplished by treating the family as a unit providing treatment and care in the context of knowledge of all family members’ HIV status, counseling for prevention for discordant couples, support for disclosure, and ongoing education for all family members. This continuity of care helps ensure that the needs of all family members are addressed.
