A Season to Help the Little Ones

2 Million Children with HIV Aren’t Getting Treatment.

Despite the progress that we’ve made to reduce mother to child transmission and treatment of HIV, one group has been left behind. Children. Without HIV testing and treatment with antiretroviral therapy (ART), one third of infants living with HIV die before their first birthday, and more than half die before the age of two.

CAFI is working to see that treatment for the Little Ones is delivered when it can still make a difference.

When it comes to HIV, it’s the children who are left behind. Children under age 15 living with HIV in low and middle-income countries who need ART to survive are much less likely than adults to get life saving treatment. According to the World Health Organization, in 2012 two million children already eligible for ART are still not receiving it. That doesn’t include infants and children who have not been tested for HIV!

Treating infants and children is more complex than treating adults, but it can and must be done. Help CAFI work to reduce the obstacles to ensure treatment for these little ones who have no voice of their own.
