Teaching to Protect

HIV disease has robbed millions of children of the opportunity to be just a child and enjoy the chance to attend school. Programs providing bereavement support, school scholarships, books to improve literacy, psychosocial support, livelihood and vocational skills cannot replace what these children have lost, but make an enormous difference in equipping them for a healthy future. CAFI supports and funds mentoring and education of children in high HIV-risk environments. This access to education will give the students tools and information to be able to upgrade their future and protect them from harmful generational or environmental habits or culture.

Whether it is information about HIV/AIDS for a local school class, training mothers on how to garden and cook nutritiously, or a seminar on grant writing for local partners, education is a key to ending the suffering caused by HIV disease.
